Lost 3 Pounds And An Inch Off My Waist

on Apr 28th 2008

I have been on your fat loss program for a week now and have lost 3 lbs and an inch off my waist. I have been eating 5 small meals a day (as per the diet plan provided on the site) and doing the 3 x 30 workout every other day and I am really enjoying it. On the off days I have been doing cardio at a female boxing studio that I joined in my neighborhood. Since I am new to weight training I started with 5 lb dumbbells. However, I am no longer feeling the burn that I felt in my first workout. I tried to increase to 8 lbs but it was too difficult. Should i keep using the 5 lb dumbbells or increase my weight? Also, I have a mac and am unable to download the “79 Fat fit Questions book”, is it possible to send this to me in .pdf form?

Thanks
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

Great job on the 3 pound weight loss! You must feel pretty great!

It’s best that you increase the weight and don’t worry if you repetitions go down in numbers for a few workouts. Soon you will be doing the same repetitions with a heavier weight and that’s what you need to do for quick progress.

I’ve attached a .pdf form of the “79 fat loss questions” book that has some additional information about working out with your dog. If you don’t have a dog, sorry J It’s just part of the .pdf file when Nick put it together.

Hi Ray,

I am a small person (5 ft and about 120 lbs). I normally workout an average of 4-5 days a week from anywhere from 45 mins to an hour. Lately though I have noticed that I tend to get hypoglycemic a lot. Now I know that I should be taking in more calories per day as I am using quite a bit. I know this because my cardio workout alone is intense. I recently went out and purchased a protein supplement drink but I still tend to get hypoglycemic a lot. What am I doing wrong?

Are there any products out there to help with this problem? I don’t really weight train as I don’t know what to be doing (as of yet) plus with as much as my cardio training takes out of me I want to get a handle on that. I have looked at your recipe book but they are large portions. I tend to eat very small meals throughout the day as I tend to get full right away. I appreciate any help you can offer me and don’t worry, I am physically fine as far as health issues go.

Hi Nia,

Even if you are doing everything right a really intense workout can still make you light headed and a little shakey. Sometimes I get this way myself if I go really hard on interval training on an empty stomach.
A few of my clients can only work out hard if they eat closer to the session then most other people. Usually the smaller people with fast metabolisms.

Also, since you are working out so much it is really important to make sure you gets some carbohydrates and water into your system as soon as possible after your training. That way you’ll be ready to go for the next session.

Speaking of the water connection, that is another reason some people get light headed. It could be that with all your training you are dehydrated and not getting enough water intake.

For meal preparation, I always cook really large amounts, I can pick the portion size I feel like, and then divide it up and stick it in the fridge. This way I only have to prepare food a couple times a week and when I get really hungry there is always something ready for me in the fridge. It keeps me from grabbing junk!
